The Japanese Flower blanket is finished. J was kind enough to go outside with me and take some photos - I am so lucky he is cooperative. The flowers look much bigger when I hold the blanket up than when I photograph it on the ground.
It was a sunny hot day for the "photoshoot" and after holding it and drapping it around myself, I just loved it even more.
Here it is on the garden chair set on my front porch...
Watercolor version of the photo...
Very cozy to wrap around one's self. I was worried about the spaces in between each flower. I had a lengthy conversation about this with my Thursday crochet lunch group last week. Many crocheters were putting small flowery shapes in between but I just wasn't sold on the idea... plus I didn't have the time.
After taking as many photos as I could, it was time to fold it up and ship it out.
I ended up with a total of 56 flowers, each flower was approximately 6 inches in diameter. I used twelve different colors of Lion's Brand Vanna's Choice Yarn . The following colors were used and the number of flower per color:
Olive - 4; Dusty Purple - 7; Antique Rose - 3; Rose - 3; Colonial Blue - 4; Dusty Green - 5; Purple - 4; Rust - 8; Dusty Blue - 4; Cranberry - 5; Sapphire - 3; Silver Blue - 6
The dimensions are 39 inches by 53 inches.
For my next one, I will stick with a general color pattern. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out which color petals to make next to make sure colors were not too close to each other. If I would have stuck with a general order, I would have saved a lot of time. So if you are going to make one with a variety of colors, I recommend sticking with an order.
xoxo Susan
It's just wonderful. I like the white centers with all the brilliant colors around :')
